Hi friends! If we haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting, my name is Lauren. I have been teaching piano and voice both in person and online for eleven years. I am a graduate of Grant MacEwan University's Music Diploma program, with a major in Vocal Performance. I have performed and competed in and around the Edmonton area all my life. From a young age, I have studied both voice and piano, and I aim every day to pass on snippets of my knowledge and love for music to those around me. I am most influenced in pop and jazz styles, but am flexible in most areas and love working with students of all ages and abilities. In a pursuit to strengthen my classical piano chops, I recently challenged the Royal Conservatory Grade 8 exam and achieved first class honours, and am currently working through Grade 9 repertoire. I'm also a registered voice teacher with the Alberta Registered Music Teachers Association.
In 2015, I decided to cultivate my own business teaching music, and voila. Miss Lauren Music was born! My philosophy as a teacher is that music is a fun and winding adventure that grows you *if* you're consistent, but that everyones adventure looks a little different. I teach many students who pursue one specific area/genre of interest, and many who have widely varied lessons. I pride myself on being extremely flexible as we navigate your musical goals.
When I'm not teaching, you'll find me at book stores or comic expos as I'm both an avid reader and an avid nerd. I co-run a book reviewing YouTube channel with my best friend, craft often, and love spending time with my (also musician) husband, and our sweet energetic pup. He and I are currently working on my second studio project, with new singles coming later this year. Catch me worshipping at Saints Church Glory Hills on Sunday mornings, and check out my debut EP at the link below.
If you have any questions, please give me a shout via the contact tab! I'm so excited to begin a new musical journey with you!
